Brawley
The Heart of Imperial Valley
Brawley, California, located in Imperial County, is a city steeped in agricultural heritage and community spirit. Founded in the early 1900s, Brawley has grown into a central agricultural hub, playing a significant role in the region’s farming and ranching activities. The city is well-known for its annual Cattle Call Rodeo, a week-long celebration that includes cowboy poetry, music performances, and a variety of family-friendly events. Tourists visiting Brawley can enjoy outdoor adventures at the nearby Imperial Sand Dunes, which offer stunning views and excellent opportunities for photography and camping. Families can unwind at Alyce Gereaux Park, featuring a splash pad, playgrounds, and picnic areas, making it a perfect spot for relaxation and recreation.
How I See It as a Big Rig RVer
It’s challenging to fully understand an RV park or campground just from reading Google reviews, as they can often be unclear or incomplete. That’s why our site relies on firsthand experiences from an experienced RVer who tells it like it is, to provide you with honest and detailed insights into each park or campground.

Del Yermo RV Park
Recently under new ownership, this is primarily a long term seniors park, primarily geared to low/fixed income seniors. Unlikely you’d find an RV site here, and sadly, probably unlikely you would want to stay there if you could.

Wiest Lake
Midwest farmers LOVE this park, because it “smells like money.” Yup. That’s what they say in the Midwest when driving past a huge, smelly cattle feedlot. It’s not always smelly, depending on the wind, but either way, you’re likely to at least get a whiff of fresh manure in the morning. An otherwise quiet park with a small lake you can enjoy, it’s fairly close to restaurants and a wal-mart, about 15 minutes away.

Desert Trails RV Park
About 30 minutes away
At the time of this writing, the park might be more aptly named “Desert Mounds RV Park” based on the large pile of dirt in the middle of things. What we’re sure was once a travelers hotspot is now, at best, a traveler’s NOT spot. Often, you can’t spot problems until you enter the gates. Here, simply driving by gives you a feeling that the park is sad and in disrepair. If you can afford a different park, it’s probably a good idea to go there.

Rio Bend RV & Golf Resort
About 30 minutes away
This 55+ park is surprisingly affordable, but rather small and crowded. Depending on the night, you might find a meal at the bar or music from their live stage. If you’re staying a while – it’s manageable. If you’re planning a one or two nightery, getting in and out can take up most of your time at the park. Be sure to bring WD-40 to help you squeeze through some tight places! The pool is nice – those staying here seem to be active and very social.

Sunbeam Lake RV Resort
About 30 minutes away
Other than the standing water outside the park that encouraged mosquitos (plenty of them) this was a nice, clean park – good for long or short-term stays. The park is gated, and you’ll be met at the gate and escorted in. Here you’ll find concrete patios and a table, firepits at some sites. No pull-throughs, no wifi, but most major carries are available for hot spots. A small grocery store and other El Centro services are close by.
